For minor illnesses (e.g. flu, headaches or minor accidents), we recommend visiting a general practitioner in the neighbourhood. If you have a toothache, you should go directly to a dentist.
In the case of severe pain and serious accidents, you should go to hospital. If hospitalisation is necessary (e.g. due to an operation), the insurer should be contacted immediately. In this case, the staff at the emergency call centre will clarify the details of cost coverage directly with the hospital. This has the advantage that high hospital bills do not have to be laid out. The insurer pays the costs directly.
In acute emergencies, please call the emergency doctor on 112, after which you should inform the Assistance as soon as possible to ensure that all necessary costs are covered.
The basic requirement for receiving a declaration of assumption of costs is the treatment of an acute illness (no previous illness) that is medically necessary and cannot be postponed.
The following documents must be submitted to verify these requirements:
- a detailed report from the doctor who ordered the operation
medical history - symptoms
- Information on when the operation is to take place
Please inform the Assistance as soon as you know that inpatient treatment or an operation is necessary so that the costs can be clarified with the hospital in good time.
Rechnung werden über unser Invoices are submitted using our Claims form . This must be completed in full. After submitting the form, you will receive an automatic confirmation of receipt by e-mail. The insurer will then check the eligibility of the invoice for reimbursement and initiate all further steps.
You can submit several invoices at the same time. Make sure that each invoice is complete and contains all the necessary information. You can upload them using our claims form.
The invoice should contain the following information: Name of the doctor, diagnosis, exact description of the treatments or examinations carried out and the date of treatment.

Yes, you have a free choice of doctor in Germany and can choose both general practitioners and specialists according to your needs.
If you call the Assistance, they will arrange an appointment with a doctor for you.
